Hike which is famous for being among the few prominent Indian apps to shine worldwide has added one more feather to its cap by managing to land among the top 5 free utilities in India on both Android and iOS app stores. Things are looking shiny on the Windows Phone side of things as well, even as the messenger is currently occupying the sixth spot on its respective store.
On the Google Play store, it stands now on the fourth position in the list of Top Free Android Apps across India. Things are even better on the AppleApp Store where it’s number two on the list. Launched in 2012, this utility has seen tremendous growth over the past few months.
Back in February it managed to cross 15 million users, and June saw it clear 20 million mark. This means 5 Million users were added over a time of just around 3 months. Community focused features and popularity among Indians are two of the prime reasons for its rise.
Kavin Bharti Mittal, who’s the head of product and strategy at Hike has revealed that the app keeps adding more than 200K new users each day. Over 90 percent of its users come from India, and it’s hence that its makers are developing features suited for folks from the country.
These include the ability to hide private chats from being seen by anyone else, offline messaging, localized stickers and more. Truly a cross-platform utility, Hike can be downloaded now on iOS, Android, Blackberry, BB10, Windows Phone, S40, S60 and Noxia X platforms.
